About Burdock and Clove

Kim Victorine, L.Ac, MSTOM

Kim is a graduate of a four-year Master of Science program from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago.

She originally gained interest in holistic medicine and TCM while working in sales within the medical diagnostics industry in her 20’s and 30’s. The hectic lifestyle and demanding travel obligations, coupled with raising a little girl, took a toll on her body and mind. She regularly practiced yoga and after a class noticed the studio offered acupuncture.

After regularly working with her acupuncturist, the benefits in the physical body were quite noticeable, and surprisingly felt a huge difference with insomnia and stress issues as well. At that time she also volunteered at Children’s Memorial in Lincoln Park working with children on the Hematology/Oncology floor and knew this is where she was most happy.  Since she had been contemplating a career change that’s more hands on with patient care, and Chinese medicine resonated so profoundly, she decided to quit her corporate job and start her new holistic journey.

Burdock and Clove

She first deepened her yoga practice and knowledge of Ayurveda through yoga teacher training at Moksha in 2012. After almost a year of intense training, she enrolled in the masters program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in downtown Chicago.

She’s formally collaborated with Project Vida in South Lawndale working with the local HIV population over several years. She’s also had the pleasure of teaming up with the Chicago Women’s Health Collective on the north side working with a wide array of patient populations with a focus on fertility, trauma, and OB/GYN conditions.

She then went on to collaborate with chiropractic and functional medicine care at a local practice in Wicker Park, where she treated a myriad of conditions, including sports medicine pain management, IBS/gut related issues and fertility for several years. More recently she joined a team of Chinese medical providers at a holistic wellness space in River West.

At the same time she started her own successful practice, Burdock and Clove Wellness located in North Center/Roscoe Village during the pandemic about a year and a half ago. She believes in a more synergistic approach that empowers her patients to be an active part of their health goals.

She has one daughter who’s the inspiration behind her career changes. When she’s not with patients, she enjoys expanding her physical health through yoga, pilates, and barre. She’s also quite passionate about gardening, cooking, family and friends. Throwing dinner parties and feasting on delicious food is must in her work/life balance.
